How to purchase a betta online with confidence
You found the perfect betta online, and you want to buy it, but what should you do, who should you trust, and are there any online threats that you have be aware of? Scams and frauds are prevalent. How do you know you are going to get the betta you see or if the seller will reply to after you pay? And what about refund policies? So how should you protect yourself, minimize the risk, and make sure the order you get is satisfying? This page will help you and give you some suggestions to help answer your concerns.
Here are some suggestions that I want to share with my dear customers based on my past experiences. I think these methods are quite useful and if I was a buyer, I would definitely follow the methods.
Get to know your seller and evaluate him/her. The most common way is to read the seller’s feedback and see how other buyers describe their experience with the seller. This is a start, but it is not enough. I encourage you to do the following:
- Send an email to a seller and ask basic questions such as how did the seller become a betta seller? How long has the seller been breeding and selling bettas? Make sure not to ask personal questions or harass them. Respect is important and should work both ways.
- Observe how your seller interacts with you. Does the seller respond quickly to your emails? Does the seller have a positive and polite attitude? Does the seller take the time to explain things you do not understand? Is the seller willing to answer any questions you ask?
If you are not sure about the product (a betta), you must ask for more information or details, perhaps, more photos from different views, for example, front view and rear view, top view? You might even ask for a short video clip of the betta. If a seller really has the betta, it should not take more than 24 hrs to send you the clip and the photos via email.
Save all photos and compare your betta with the photos after you have received the betta.
Ask about their return policy and save your receipts or take screen shots. And make sure you can contact them.
I hope these suggestions are somewhere helpful to you. Good luck! ^^
Thank you
